Coyote Light Shino

Next up is Coyote Light Shino, #17 in my commercial glaze tests. One of my favorite glazes, it almost always comes out great on everything but porcelain. On the porcelain it looks like an off-white gloss with no variation in color tones. It looks best on buff and dark brown clays, and alright on white stoneware and red clays. I may have applied it too thick on the red clay, plus there isn't much texture on the test to show off the variation. Fewer coats result in more rust and brown, with the cream white settling into the recessed areas. More than 3 coats results in more cream and less brown. Like most of Coyote's Shinos, it doesn't run, and I've never seen any glaze defects on any of the clays, except for light pin holing on the dark brown. Fired to cone 5 1/2 on Kentucky Mudworks and Standard (112) clays.
