Georgie's Purple Satin

Georgie's Purple Satin is glaze #10 in my commercial glaze tests. It's a grape purple that's unusual as a matte, as it breaks when thin and/or on heavier texture so is semi-translucent. Most satin glazes are opaque and don't show texture well. I love Georgie's line of satin glazes, they have a nice waxy feel. It looks great on white, red, and buff clays but has lots of pinholes on the Brown Bear clay; it would likely do the same on Standard 266 (comparable to the Brown Bear). Most of the satins I've tested come out with either pinholes or blisters on dark brown clays. Fired to cone 5 1/2 on clay bodies from Kentucky Mudworks and Standard (112).
