Coyote Cedar Shino is #16 in my commercial glaze tests. The Coyote shinos are semi-gloss opaque glazes. On darker than white clays, they'll break on medium to heavy texture, the recessed areas will be lighter than the higher relief areas. Cedar Shino is a nice brick / burnt red color. It's hard to see on the red clay spike below the texture break, as there was no texture on that test and I applied it a bit thick. The Shino series is pretty user friendly, once you know how much you need to apply to your clay to bring out the texture, it's a reliable and stable glaze. I think they look best on the dark brown and 112 speckled buff clays. Fired to Cone 5 1/2 on Kentucky Mudworks and Standard (112) clays.
