Amaco Seaweed

 Amaco Seaweed is glaze #6 in the commercial glaze test tiles. As you can see, this glaze looks better on lighter clays such as porcelain and white stoneware, and looks ok on red clay. On the 112 and Brown Bear though, the green color disappears. Seaweed is known as a great layering glaze, as a base or top coat.  It's one of Amaco's most popular glazes. It can be runny with heavy application. The photos have lots of glare, this is a tough glaze to photograph due to its high gloss; it is very reflective. Test tiles were fired to cone 5 1/2, on Kentucky Mudworks and Standard 112 clays.
