Amaco Obsidian Celadon is glaze #12 in my commercial glaze tests. Obsidian is a very popular glaze that is often used as a base coat when layering Potter's Choice or other glazes. It is mostly opaque but does break slightly on heavier texture. As you can see from the pics, it is highly reflective and so is hard to photograph (most glosses will present this problem). It looks a lot better in person! A reliable, flawless glaze that even looks good on dark clay; it is a bit less glossy on the dark clay though. Fired to cone 5 1/2 on Kentucky Mudworks and Standard (112) clays.
