Amaco Flambe is glaze #4 in the commercial glaze tests. It looks great on porcelain and red clay. I think that if I applied a coat or two more to the 112 and Dark Star clays it may look better, with more of the purple and red colors. Very dark clays like Brown Bear are hard to get color on with a 'float' glaze such as Flambe, so more coats may not help. These were dipped for 3 seconds, 4-5 may be needed on the darker clays. Similar to Spectrum Autumn Purple (glaze #3) and Amaco Copper Red (glaze #5, my next post). Fired to cone 5 1/2, clays are from KyMudworks and Standard (112).
